Teacher and a parent. Wwyd?

My dds are very happy at an independent school. They love everything about it. I teach in another independent which I love working at. I have the opportunity to bring both girls to my school and get 50% off fees.

I'm torn between moving them from somewhere they're ecstatically happy and saving tens of thousands of pounds over the duration they'd stay (7years for one child, 3years for another).

No brainer. Move themGrin

MongerTruffle · 29/03/2018 17:31

What do they think of moving?

BettyBettyBetty · 29/03/2018 17:32

Tough one. Really tough.

However I'd do it. Bring them to your school. It's an ENORMOUS amount of money that you could save... I'd probably put it in a savings account for house deposits for mine.

AJPTaylor · 29/03/2018 17:35

move them if your school is equally good for them.
write down what the saving is. prob house deposit size
their twenty something selves will thank you.

user2929 · 29/03/2018 17:38

Quick calculation... about £70k

How old?

I’d be reluctant to have my dcs at the same school as me, to be honest.

CraftyGin · 29/03/2018 17:40

Move them.

user2929 · 29/03/2018 17:42

They're 3 and 7. Several staff members have kids there happily (always different year groups).

OP posts:
AJPTaylor · 29/03/2018 18:52

oh blimey. just do it if you are also really happy there!

Caroline680 · 29/03/2018 18:57

three years old?!!!

you decide fgs

user2929 · 29/03/2018 19:00

Caroline I'm more thinking about my 7yo who loves her school. Logistically I want them both in the same place.

LockedOutOfMN · 29/03/2018 19:07

I would move them.

eggcellent · 29/03/2018 19:08

They're both still very young, I'd absolutely do it!

elQuintoConyo · 29/03/2018 19:09

For 70k? Jeez Louise, i'd just move them.

Having said that i'm a former military brat and switched schools from one year to the next without any problem. Primary, not secondary. Never had problems settling in or making friends.

ReinettePompadour · 29/03/2018 19:10

Definitely move them. You can save the money to spend on other things and theyre young enough to still settle in well and do brilliantly.

user1483387154 · 29/03/2018 19:12

move them

BettyBettyBetty · 29/03/2018 22:58

I know I've already replied on this thread, but now I've seen your girls ages, I'm even more certain. Move them!

Dermymc · 30/03/2018 07:14

Move them. It's not like they're 15!

INeedNewShoes · 30/03/2018 07:19

At this age I'd move them without a further thought.

If you'd said they were 15 and 11 it would be a tougher judgment call.

parrotonmyshoulder · 30/03/2018 07:34

I assumed they were teens. Move them!

user2929 · 30/03/2018 08:37

DH wants to leave them Confused Their school goes through to 18 mine to 11. I'm going to shelve the conversation over Easter and start again next week.

OP posts:
Dermymc · 30/03/2018 09:39

Where would they go "naturally" after your school?

Could they move now then go back for 11-18?

user2929 · 30/03/2018 09:48

They would have to sit 11+ at mine. At theirs now they progress straight through

OP posts:
AJPTaylor · 30/03/2018 13:50

could you move them back at year 7?

Allthebestnamesareused · 30/03/2018 14:55

Move them
