to think it's bloody impossible to 'take a group' in the middle of continuous provision?

Our general TAs have been cut, so while there is a TA she is glued 1-1 to a child with severe needs. He will frequently take himself out of the room etc so it really is just me.

The is the model that SMT want to see but it's IMPOSSIBLE.

Does anyone manage to do it successfully for R or Y1?

We’ve gone to more whole class teaching if I’m honest. Herd mentality and all that.

It is vey tricky. I have resigned myself to dealing with all manner of issues while 'taking' a group. I would also love to know if anyone has found a way around it.

It's awful. The ones in the group aren't concentrating (and I don't blame them), I've got one eye on the rest, plus there's no one to interact with them!

I would much prefer to do whole class teaching and then take c.p. on my own but SMT are against it Hmm

Read Bold Beginnings- the new ish OFSTED recommendations about EYFS Reception year. All the permission you need to just formally teach whole class.
Thank god because it's impossible otherwise.
