Any ideas. Done Harry potter and fantastic Mr fox. Anything else that is simple and basically an excuse to dress down and keep warm???

Charlie Bucket?

Blue and white Breton top, bandage around head... et voila, Mr Bump!

Go as an erudite from divergent. Wear blue. And (fake if necessary) glasses.

Is there a character from one of your favourite books that would work (age appropriate obv) or does it have to be a children’s book?
I think it’s good for children to see that us grownups love reading and stories too.

Kristy Thomas from The Babysitters Club. Always wears jeans, sweatshirt and trainers. Add a visor and a pencil behind your ear if you can be bothered.

Charlie Cook with his favourite book.

I was Stick Man last year - brown long-sleeved top, brown jogging bottoms, brown boots, leaves stuck onto top. Very comfy!

I always go as Jane Eyre. Long skirt, blouse (cardigan if needed) and hair in a bun.

Mum or dad from the magic key books

Gansta Granny?

Following with interest. Last year I went as a fairy godmother. Normal clothes plus wand and wings.

Red and white stripy top plus jeans and a bobble hat for Wally or Wendy from “Where’s Wally”.

I got my top from New Look but I’m sure it’s a fairly basic, ubiquitous item of clothing, that you’d find in most shops.

My personal moan is that they've chosen to put world book day on St David's day, which is a bit of a nightmare if you teach in Wales and want to do Eisteddfod type stuff and mark WBD.

Last year I went as Arthur Dent from Hitchhikers. Comfy PJs, dressing gown, book that says 'Don't panic' on the front. Slippers even. Lovely.

Sorted - I'm buying a blue wig from Amazon, which DD will quickly appropriate after next week, and I'm going to be Anne Fine's Crummy Mummy.
