I teach in Asia (Malaysia)
Happy to answer any specific questions you have.
If you are applying to schools in Malaysia, then as far as British Curriculum schools go, unless you are applying to British School, Garden International or Alice Smith, even though the schools are 'international", 99% of the students are local, which is fine, but your child will be in an extreme minority. If you want a good mix and a truly international experience, you need to go for one of those three.
I know staff at all three of those schools, and of the three, Alice Smith seems to have the happiest staff, it is not for profit and the longest established, split campus so the primary and secondary students are separate, more like a school in UK, even though under the same head of school and governing body. Each campus has it's own head.
GIS also well established, but a very built up area, owned by the Taylors education group.
British School (BSKL), also privately owned, commands the highest fees, staff are under a huge amount of pressure to deliver, are required to do PDP and training (CP) on public holidays. At least some of the staff are not qualified (eg a TA teaching reception) and other teachers expected to carry them. But they do market themselves very well, and they have a good mix of nationalities, a good staff line-up (albeit with a high turnover)
They are all recruiting for 2018-19 now, look at TES
