I really don't think I can carry on with supply.

So I am starting a thread wondering if anyone has any advice, support, suggestions ... anything ??

Getting a job in a school? I know that sounds blindingly obvious. Are there reasons you don't want a permanent position in a school?

Are you looking at something that is still teaching or not teaching at all?

Inkandbone · 06/11/2017 16:57

I doubt I'd get one. Been out of the game too long.

Where are you based?

Inkandbone · 06/11/2017 16:59

In the middle of England Smile

Primary or secondary? Subject?

Inkandbone · 06/11/2017 17:22

English, secondary. Haven't taught properly for ages though.

English is now a shortage subject so you might have more of a chance of getting a job than you think. Or do you not want to work in teaching any more?

Inkandbone · 06/11/2017 17:25

I doubt it giraffe tbh ... It might be a shortage subject in a national sense but some areas are just fine for recruitment. Plus I am not very good. Plus I have no references. And i haven't got the confidence to apply anyway. (I loathe the teacher recruitment system. So I doubt it.

Tutoring? Adult literacy teaching? I do adult (MFL) classes and love it. I know how you feel though - I do some supply and it is not much fun.

crimsonlake · 08/11/2017 08:33

You may hate it but you are luckier than me I have only worked 2 days this term.

I once applied for a job as a registrar (which I didn't get by the way - but I'd have been fabulous Grin).

Have a look for something like that? Think outside the box for skills your English ability would help with.
