Suspension of registration

I've recently found out that someone I know has had their teaching registration suspended (high school teacher). Can anyone tell me some of the reasons this might happen please and what the likely outcome could be? I know this isn't done lightly so is probably something serious. I'm very worried as I have no other details.

How does it impact on you to make you worried? Could be anything from sex with underaged horses to having lied about a degree qualification.

They would have gone through a disciplinary process which would have found the allegations proven. The nature of the allegations would have been such that they impacted on their professional standards.
In my (limited) experience this means fundamental dishonesty such as theft education issues like falsifying sats tests submitting copied work as students or safeguarding eg physical assault of pupil or sexual misconduct

The case is still under investigation, I know that much. No it isn't public as far as I'm aware. Yes it impacts as I have a child with him and I am worried it may be something like misconduct with a student or porn.

An official suspension of registration, or just being kept off school while an incident is being investigated?

Official suspension noblegiraffe. And ongoing until at least the start of next year. I can't give much background info but I have reason to worry, particularly about the safety of my child, and because I don't know much about the process or anything about why it's happened I'm worrying all the more.

Taught or fathered by him?
Talk to your child and see how they feel about him, if there’s anything worrying them.

If he’s suspended, your child is protected from him. He won’t be allowed on the premises.

I think the OP is worried because this is her child’s father. I’m assuming that she is concerned about the child going for unsupervised access with him when there is a possibility that he may have committed sexual offences against children. If it is something like that then wouldn’t there also be a criminal case? Have you tried searching the local papers for the area to see if you can find any reporting on what might have happened? They would normally report on case she like that.

They don't usually suspend or prohibit from teaching until the case has been heard. I'm almost certain that they don't suspend while they investigate but if the case is being dealt with by the LADO he could be suspended from work. Suspension is a neutral act in law designed to protect both the employee and the employer.

Is he primary or secondary? Did you have any concerns before you found this out?

If he was being investigated for something of a sexual nature you would have had a visit from police and social work advising you of this in order to ensure the child did not have any contact with him. In my time as a CP social worker i made many such visits to families.

He's a high school teacher and the father of my child. Yes I've had concerns for years as have others but nothing that could be proved enough to act. All I know at this stage is that he's been officially suspended (this has only just happened), investigation ongoing and that I will be informed of any updates 'as more information comes to light'. We're not in the UK so not sure how much the process differs. I have stopped access with my child until I find out more and am waiting to hear back from child protection. I have been on the public website but there is no info on him other than date of suspension. Plenty on other teachers listed though, most have lost their licences for sexual offences and I am praying this is not the case here, but it won't surprise me if it is.
