Ideas for interview lesson

I have a teaching interview next week and have to deliver a 20 minute lesson to a group of higher education students on 'stress management'. I am trying to think of something that is practical and fun. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Can't really help with specifics as I teach Reception but there is a really good Ted talk on why stress is important and useful. Might be worth having a look at that to get some insights.

Are you an expert on stress management then? Otherwise it seems a really weird idea to test you by asking you to teach something, which you're new to. Surely teachers are there to be experts in a topic, not wing it?

An intro to mindfulness? And maybe a practice?

Have a look at this and use it as a basis for exploring how to select the appropriate coping strategies for stressful situations: www.simplypsychology.org/stress-management.html Lazarus and Folkman 1984 transactional stress model is a good place to start (of course, first explore what stress is - the NHS definition is a good one) don't get drawn into individual circumstances, you only have 20 mins. Remember, stress is neutral, it's about whether or not you perceive you have the resources to cope with the stressor presented.

Oh, sorry, for practical, try a controlled breathing exercise with them as an evidence based proven way to help control short term negative stress. Also, you could try a progressive muscle relaxation (Google scripts for them, there are loads).

I agree with Slart; surely you know the subject and have some ideas of activities in your subject that can be adapted to a 20 minute session?

No specific advice but when i observe interview lessons I expect to see a 3 part lesson with a starter/ hook, main learning and ending with a progress check/ plenary. This is tough to do in 20 mins but the key is that students make progress- they know/ can do something by the end that they couldn't at the start of the lesson. Good luck!!

If it can be interactive then it might be worth looking at gonoodle.com to get them active (free to sign up)

It seem like you may lack the motivation for this tbh - 3 days people have asked for clarification and you aren't even dealing with your own thread, to help YOU...
