I'm looking for career advice. Is a senior staff nurse and a qualified Tutor. I teach nursing and med students. I'm on a career break currently as my son has Special needs. I'd like to look at becoming a teacher. Can any of you advise me on the best way to do this. Is the OU an option?

Ex nurse now chemistry teacher here. What subject were you thinking of teaching? If a shortage one you may be able to do a subject knowledge enhancement on top of your nursing degree.
I leave the house at 7 and don't expect to be home before 6 during term time, then there are evening commitments several times a term and I work at home Mon-Thurs evening and one day of the weekend. But I do get the holidays to be mum. If you can cope with the stress levels in the NHS and don't mind going back to the bottom of the payscale you can cope with teaching.
