unsure which course to do?.... TA or nursery nurse?

I'm unsure which one. I love being with kids. I've got a 5, 8 & 12 yrs old.

Should I volunteer? If yes, how long? As want to try both. I've got a year to sort it out as I work part time and can't afford to quit as yet.

Thanks

I don't think nursery nurses exist anymore. At least they don't in my area. They were traditionally paid more. It's all TAs now.

It would be good to get some experience of working in a school because it can often be quite different to what people expect.

Nursery nurses exist but I think the new training courses call them Early Years Educators. I think the roles are quite different so it may be worth seeing if you can spend time in both settings. There are also apprenticeships available to get you the training you need.

Nursery nurse you have mostly care duties, TA mostly educational.

TA courses generally take about a year to complete. Nursery nurse courses, now containing Early Years educator in the title, can take longer and often cover more modules. Both courses would require a work placement in the setting so that you can use your practical experience as evidence of meeting the learning requirements. If you take an early years course you may only be qualified to work with children in the Eyfs , where as a TA course will qualify you to work with older children as well. Saying that, employers may accept a TA qualification if you can prove your knowledge of the Eyfs and have some experience. It's confusing isn't it? Steer clear of on line courses and go with a college if you can .

Thank you every one of you. I'm gonna volunteer and see which one I will go for to study in college next year.

"Nursery nurse you have mostly care duties, TA mostly educational" disagree the old nursery nursing course and new EYE courses are much more comprehensive and a higher level than many TA courses and given the choice I prefer to employ a TA with Nursery Nursing qualifications (regardless of age group).
