A Deputy Head who slams doors

I'm currently working with a DHwho won't help staff members. She refuses to help by saying she is too busy. Slams doors if she doesn't like a conversation someone has had with her. Ignores you if you have made a valid point that she doesn't agree with and won't share duties etc equally. Currently she is in total control as Head is absent.
I'm at the end of my teather. What can I do?

Speak to the governors? Union advice?

To give her the benefit of the doubt, is she stressed, overwhelmed, overpromoted, undersupported? Sometimes both sides forget the other is human too. I've known getting someone a cup of tea and a cake, or taking them for a drink or several after work, can work wonders in breaking a bad pattern like this. If not, it really depends on how long the Head has been absent and will be absent. If it's a long term thing, you might need to get some advice from your union and speak to the relevant Governor. How do your colleagues feel, and how are they handling it? Beware though, sticking your head above the parapet especially on your own might only increase any problems, and it might not be your DHT who ends up moving on or being seen as the one with a problem. They might not be able to afford to lose her at the moment. Good luck.
