When do you find out which days you will be working next year? We are three weeks before the end of term and I am have no ideas which days over our two week timetable I will be working. I need to know soon so I can arrange childcare.

Ask your timetabler?

Heirhelp · 01/07/2017 15:55

Sorry I should have said. I have said but they don't know yet and can't tell me when I will find out.

Well if the person doing the timetable doesn't know then nobody here will. They should know before you break up.

Heirhelp · 01/07/2017 16:09

I was just wondering when other schools told staff which days they were working.

I haven't been told yet but am assuming (hoping) it's the same days I work now.

noblegiraffe · 01/07/2017 20:28

I'm part time secondary and the answer has often been 'all of them', despite being just over 0.6.

I saw my timetable on Thursday. I don't know which sets I'll be teaching yet, but I do know when I'll need to arrange childcare.

xyzandabc · 01/07/2017 20:34

Our school mostly found out about 2 weeks ago. They know days, classes and times.

SweepTheHalls · 01/07/2017 20:38

I still don't know what days I'm working, it's causing me so much anxiety re childcare. We normally know by now, goodness only knows why the timetable isn't sorted yet.

itoldyouyouwouldntlikeit · 06/07/2017 06:52

I, luckily, work in a school where I said "Can I have these days?" And they said "yes". Haven't seen my timetable though

20thcenturybitch · 06/07/2017 07:17

Days confirmed well before half term although timetable only this week!

And although they can't guarantee the same days or requested days they do give us full days as they appreciate 3 days split across 5 doesn't work for paid childcare.

If I had to pay 5 days childcare on 3 days salary it would hardly be worth working. I moan about many issues in my school (academy) but this is one thing they do well.

LeannePerrins · 06/07/2017 11:49

I insisted on knowing around Easter because I needed to sign a contract with a childminder and school were able to confirm.

I've been lucky to have a really flexible and cheap childminder. If I had to rely on nurseries, I'd have had to pay to work. This year I'm lucky and have one day off a fortnight on just over 0.6. Hmm

OneOfTheGrundys · 06/07/2017 15:52

I don't know either. Starting a new job, 0.8. Wraparound care at the ds' school gets full so fast and I need to know soon!!

MrsGuyOfGisbo · 06/07/2017 20:45

At our school, the part-timers get to hear first as school is sensitive to childcare issues, so can accommodate changes before publishing to all. When they are sorted, full-timers get theirs ( I - FT - had mine last week).
