Common Entrance CE 13+ Exams Independent Prep Schools 2017

Pupils at our Prep school recently sat their CEs and results have been coming through. Some pupils were given the chance to improve their finished papers on the same day as the exam and given advice to neaten them up, where they could pick up extra marks and so on before papers were sent off to senior schools. This has made some pupils, parents and staff uneasy for all sorts of reasons. My question is, is this normal practice at Prep schools and do the exam board and senior schools know it goes on? Is this how schools such as ours can boast a 100% pass rate and subsequent acceptance into senior schools?

Sorry just read your last post about governors and ISEB being aware.

Shocking stuff. Poor kids being put in that position.

Sweeping far, IMO, as you will probably realise from this week's news. We could write a book Fortunately, we really could.

So am I right that this is a prep school that goes up to 13 or does it have a secondary bit as well?

If it has a secondary, do the children have to do CE to get in to that? Or is this just for applications to external schools?

I ask because I was wondering what the agenda is in terms of their stats. Also, because someone suggested it might be going on for national exams too.

Apologies Fortunately for missing your post. It is a Prep to 13 with a college to 16. It is non selective with entry to both at the discretion of the Head.

Yes, there are unanswered questions about the agenda for the CE tampering. Stats are possibly only one reason. It has left a nasty taste in the mouth and raised doubts about how far those with a lack of integrity about CE exams might go, for example with regard to GCSEs.
