Me! Will still be teaching but NO MORE SCHOOL!!!! The relief is huge.

BelafonteRavenclaw · 09/06/2017 22:15

DH and I are both teachers. DH has been in a horrific school for the past 3 years and he left in the half term. He currently doesn't have a job for sept but it was the best decision he ever made. A huge weight has been lifted in this house.

calzone · 09/06/2017 22:43

What are you doing fifthkey??

Your poor Dh Belafonte.......has he got a cunning plan?

Moving to sixth form college. Still pressure for results etc but I much prefer the vibe of the place, and being able to focus on sixth form with no KS3 etc will be a real positive for me.

Me !
I toyed with becoming a TA or LSA in my children's school but did a bit of networking and found an amazing job that I am so excited about. Thrilled that it is not in a school.

MickeyRooney · 10/06/2017 06:45

Watching with interest.

millefeuille1 · 10/06/2017 07:01

Me!! Out of teaching altogether. 3 weeks to go.

I'm leaving my Ofsted-outstanding, much-loved school after almost 7 years, which is only 11 minutes walk from my front door to my classroom, for a Deputy Head post in a school with serious weaknesses and an hour long commute.

I keep thinking no more report writing, no more marking, no more lesson planning, no more displays, no more Year 2 assessments (which have completely taken over my life), no more winter playground duties... I know I will have plenty of other things to keep me busy and I'm so excited about the new role, but just maybe DH won't be rolling his eyes at me any more and sighing 'I suppose you're working again' as soon as we've finished our dinner or when there's the possibility of a day out together at the weekend.

LockedOutOfMN · 10/06/2017 19:26

Congratulations to everyone (and Belafonte's husband) and good luck in your new roles.

EvilTwins · 10/06/2017 22:04

Me! Cannot wait.

Leaving the school I've been at for 13 years to set up a business. Still in education but not in a school. Hoorah.

toomuchicecream · 11/06/2017 14:19

Me! New job is non-class based leadership role in another school. On paper looks like my dream job with a job spec written for me. In practice- who knows? I love my current school and didn't think I'd ever leave, but I've been trying to juggle 3 jobs this year and it isn't sustainable. Hopefully non having responsibility for a class will mean I get a better work-life balance. Isn't stopping me have cold feet though.

calzone · 11/06/2017 19:48

Hope it works out well for everyone!

Thank you. DH is looking for work in and out of education. He's currently sat typing up two applications for nearby, nicer schools. His old school was horrid and a 1.5hr commute each way didn't help. We are hoping a fresh start will help him enormously.

Sprog19 · 11/06/2017 19:51

Me! Well sort of....cutting hours drastically, no class responsibility, just an exam class and a bit of pupil intervention. Can't wait!

Rainbowcolours1 · 11/06/2017 21:10

Fitbit...why no winter playground duty! A DHT post in a catorgory school will have you working way more than you are now!

Rainbowcolours1 · 11/06/2017 21:10

Category!

BigcatLittlecat · 11/06/2017 21:15

#Belafonte
I did what you DH did, left with no job to go to. Best thing I ever did! When I got my mojo back I got some long term supply through people I knew and am now working full time in a fabulous school. Really happy! It's a challenging school but SLT are so supportive! There are good schools out there!

bluesky45 · 11/06/2017 21:21

Me! Will be leaving my school to have a year away to have my baby! My contract ends in August and my baby is due in September. Afterwards, I will probably do some supply because my current school has sucked all the joy out of teaching and left me exhausted, stressed and signed off sick! Can't wait for September for my baby, then to see where life takes me!

3 days to 5. New (better I think) school but bigger commute (30 mins vs 10)

imthelastsplash · 12/06/2017 15:06

I'm reducing my hours to 15 - can't wait!

stillenacht1 · 12/06/2017 15:28

Me. Leaving after 19 years at same school.

Tillyscoutsmum · 12/06/2017 20:16

I've handed my notice in but don't have a job to go to yet Confused

Interview on Thursday in a school I would love to work in. Fingers crossed!

calzone · 12/06/2017 21:55
