Teacher led clubs

I'm starting at a new prep school (leaving one for another so totally aware of what I've let myself in for). I need to choose what club to run. This is a compulsory part of the job spec for all prep teachers here. Any ideas? Non sport related!!

Lego? Grin

Doesn't it depend a little on what you are interested in? What have you run so far?

Over the years, I've done:
Lego, Netball, Football, Hockey, Rounders, Rugby, Lifesaving (and lunchtime pool duty...lovely). I do, however, enjoy them. Grin
My husband has done Gardening and Stop Motion Animation/Computers.

Knitting? A language? Homework club if that's allowed?

Or Beavers/Cubs/Scouts (assuming boys/mixed school)?

Tattsyrup · 09/06/2017 19:54

I do the Lower Prep drama club.
I love the Lego club suggestion, and Mindfulness club!

Bigbiscuits · 10/06/2017 12:25

For the year 3 and 4, we are offered sketching / graphics (graffiti writing) / board games / thinking skills / drama / forest school

Best to do it in something you are intetested in

My little boy did a space club and they were forever making models of planets and rockets.

Another one was movies Confused where they watched age appropriate films and took it in turns to bring popcorn.

Imagineering? They have kits all ready to go.

PandaG · 14/06/2017 19:27

I ran a cross stitch club. I enjoy stitching myself, and it was a doddle to run, and needed very little set up.

veneeroftheweek · 15/06/2017 18:39

Origami?

HamletsSister · 15/06/2017 18:46

Board games and card games? You could try some old ones and teach them to play various card games.

BonnieBeaumont · 17/06/2017 16:55

Film?

Model UN if they're a bit older - basically geopolitical debating

Bigbiscuits · 20/06/2017 15:25

Handwriting intervention - may not be the most popular topic for a club, but some children may benefit from some additional help

ThreeForAPound · 20/06/2017 15:28

Yoga (easy to learn the basics and lovely with little ones)

Gardening (lots of simple, satisfying projects you can do with pots and small children)

Spelling Bee?

Board games
