Losing the will to keep going

I never get a chance to actually TEACH any more because I'm so busy placating and cajoling and it's just so bloody unfair. The behaviour is absolutely appalling and it's choice at this point, they know exactly what they're doing and they know that they constantly get away with it.

I feel so sorry for all of the little ones who sit quietly and never get a thing. I am letting them down.

Could genuinely pack it in today.

I thought your post was going to be about writing reports... You've accurately described the way I feel at the moment, especially with the sunshine outside.

It's soooo hard when behaviour gets in the way of teaching/learning - I didn't go into this to spend my days on crowd control so I feel your frustration. How old are your class, and how much longer until the end of term?

Just think 7 weeks to get through.

I introduced a raffle system just before half term with my frazzled year 6s who are loosing the plot a bit. It worked a treat mainly because of the novelty. I just quietly go around giving out tickets to the ones doing the right thing. We draw a winner every 2 days. The prizes are things I know they will like e.g. choose a cartoon to watch for the last 5 mins of the day, 5 mins extra playtime, 5 mins on a laptop...

Also trying to keep them busy and everything as structured as possible...

But I too am exhausted, fed up and very excited to be moving to a new school in sept away from a very overbearing SLT, fear culture and 'new fad' obsessed school.

We can make it!

No way could I be a teacher these days.

I'd last 5 minutes before I was in bother for upsetting one of the little sods.

I was a child in the late '70's, early '80's. It was a much better time to be a child and a much better time to be a teacher.

Sending you all your drinks of choice! Not too many weeks until the summer holidays.

We NEED our good teachers & I hate to see good teachers leaving, but I don't blame any of them, not one bit.
