Stressed about Tuesday already!

I'm really stressed / worried / anxious about going back on Tuesday. I can't even think straight. It's like I lose all function of my brain properly to do things.
I am leaving at the end of the year but I need to get through till then.

What do you do to calm you down?

I have recurring dreams when I am due to go back to school - where I fail an exam at university and have lied about it - and get found out.

This year is even worse with a new English course to teach and the powers that be that made the decisions have not quite made their minds up yet what equals what.
But that won't matter to the head if my group do not reach their already ridiculously inflated targets!

Magical I am the Foundation Stage Manager at the moment (well won't be after July!) but you're so right. It's not worth it, you get blamed for anything and everything. If I was staying in teaching I'd want to go back to being a class teacher only.

piece is the new GCSE still not defined properly yet?
Bit like the KS2 SATs last year, except these are children's lives they're messing with!

Dahliaa teachers do get the whole salary, that is the salary for the particular number of hours or days worked. If they didn't have the holidays off the pay would be greater.

Iggi999 · 17/04/2017 10:44

Came on here looking for a "oh no it's almost Tuesday" thread and am not disappointed!
Problem is the answer is usually to leave, I need to stay and just find a way to enjoy it more.

Grey the goalposts keep changing .... a 5 was a pass, now a 4. But nobody really knows what a 4/5 looks like!

goldenlilliesdaffodillies · 17/04/2017 17:40

I am dreading tomorrow and have been having really awful dreams about school. It used to be a really happy school. It isn't now.

Here's the pay spine points for those who are interested. If you are outside of London-it's not going to be £35k after 4 years!

Nobody in my school has been allowed to cross the threshold into the upper pay spine this year or last because there's no money. We have lots of new cheap teachers and none of them were allowed to progress past mps3 this year. There is also no pay portability so even if you get to the dizzy heights of m6, if you move school-you don't automatically get that. We are also going through the redundancy process too as the budget is screwed -things are proper shite.

My resignation letter is written but I still feel the same as you about tomorrow :(

I've had the dread feeling through the last few holidays but interestingly not this. So it is possible for it to get better!

And yes, teachers aren't paid for holidays, nor are most support staff (who are paid a pittance!).

What was a chartered teacher? If it's been scrapped-what happens to the pay of those currently a chartered teacher?

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 18/04/2017 07:56

I left teaching over ten years ago as I absolutely hated the atmosphere, the huge weight of expectation and unfortunately, many of the teachers I worked alongside. Especially the school principal who kept inserting useless members of his own family into the staff only to report back to him what we were up to.

I moved into the charity/voluntary sector as a tutor of disadvantaged people, both young and old. The pay is rubbish compared to school teaching but my colleagues are fantastic,y evenings are free as we are discouraged from working at home and my clients are amazing - so interesting and from all walks of life.

I don't regret for one minute leaving teaching. Thank God I got out.

Rubberduckies · 18/04/2017 08:06

Someone upthread seemed to suggest nursing is a million times harder than teaching. Obviously it depends on your experience and role, but I am paid far more than teacher DH, can take time owing and there is no expectation that I stay late, or work through my evenings, weekends or holidays. It's stressful at time when I'm there, and cuts and job losses are horrendous, but at least I can come home and switch off.

I often work a full shift to come home to DH marking and will help him, because he's knackered and would never get it done before bedtime otherwise. Easter holidays have been about planning and marking and faffing around with data.

There is no way in hell I'd give up nursing to be a teacher!

HarryBlackberry · 18/04/2017 08:18

I'm the same as you Grey. Feel ill at the thought of going back. I've been dreaming about school for the last week. Horrible staff and an outrageous amount of pointless work.

GreyVelvet How did it go today? I am knackered already and been like a zombie all day, (didn't sleep last night, also allergies are playing up), but happy to be back.
