Best way to thank a great teacher and great school

In contrast to some of the MN moaning, I am deeply grateful to my son's teacher and his school. His behavior has been appalling at times (7yo). His teacher is exceptional and has turned him around, and the school community as a whole have been supportive, tolerant and kind.

A "Best teacher" mug doesn't touch it - but what does?

Grateful for views from actual teachers.

An effusive email to the teacher with the head copied in would be a firm favourite. A handwritten card with a personal message of thanks would also be great.

I second noble!

One of the best presents I ever received was a card with a lovely message and £5 gift card for the coffee shop nextdoor. Best teacher mugs and candles are sweet but just clutter.

What Noble said - although I would put it in writing.

Put what you have said in the OP in a thank you card to the teacher, and then write a letter to the HT (and possibly even the Chair of Governors) to tell them how fab they have been.

This will mean 10 000 times more than any bottle or wine, mug, or box of chocs.

Agree with noble.

PotteringAlong · 02/12/2016 16:26

I agree with noble too - a letter copied to the head and chair of governors.

Thanks guys. I will do a card to the teacher, letter to the head and voucher for the over-priced lush coffee shop over the road from the school, as opposed to the Costa on the corner.

Hope there are parents out there thinking about you all in the same way.

Missed out chair of the Governors as we don't have them in Scotland!

Grin

I'm chuffed on the teacher's behalf and I don't even know her!

Ditsyprint40 · 03/12/2016 08:44

I agree with noble, and great plan OP! I would be so chuffed to receive that :-)

King Looie - please copy the letter to the Director of Education at the council , instead of the Board of Governors.

When my DD was in P5 or 6 she had a teacher who she really loved and at the end of term DD wrote her a long letter about all the memorable things she had done e.g. I liked hearing about X in our Space topic, it was funny when you pretended to read the book upside down, now I understand how to do Y in maths

DD is now in S6 /Y13 and we recently bumped into that ( now retired ) teacher in a shopping centre and after asking her about her retirement /grandchildren, she mentioned that she still had the card and how much it had meant to her.
