I've had to take them over due to another teacher being on long term sick.

It's as if I'm not there. They yell and shout across the room, ask questions ('miss. Miss. Miss. MISS!' when I'm trying to get quiet and then do that incredibly fucking annoying thing of flinging their arms in the air in mock- outrage when I ask them to wait, come in late and make it a huge drama.

I'm starting to dread seeing them. And I have them twice a day!!!

They are similar in indies schools, the difference is that there are fewer in a class (20-22 instead of 30-35) so much easier to manage.

I had a year10class once (year9in England) who were so horrible to me when I had just started in the school. Made up stories, rate my teacher comments, exaggerated things to their parents who would ring in and complain. My poor HOD had to monitor me due to one nasty mother. Well, at the end of the year Unbeknownst to me they had rehearsed a version of Waka Waka, and their teacher asked who they would like to perform for. They picked me! And didn't even know I was a huge Shakira fan. When I was called over to hear them I was so surprised and touched that I couldn't speak. So yes, they are human inside there somewhere.

My current Y9 class were awful to start with, but they have really grown on me and are now my most fun class!
Y8 by contrast seem to be getting worse every day. Sad
