Becoming a foundation stage teacher

I have almost finished my first placement in a lovely school. I have really enjoyed it, particularly the time I spent in reception (I had to go in a few times to observe phonics teaching and helped out one day as they were a TA down). Unfortunately I don't think I'm going to get a placement in a foundation class during my PGCE as we've already been told what year groups we will be doing, but I've started to think about applying for jobs in FS when I qualify and possibly looking at some sort of MA in early years. Any foundation stage teachers out there and would you recommend it? And would I stand a chance if I hadn't done a placement in reception?

I love it!
I never did reception as a placement, then started off in y4. I've done y4, y5, y6, back to y5, y2, now reception.
You can't really just pick a year and stick with it. The most desirable thing is that you are flexible and will do any year group. Staff move to meet the needs of the children.

Thanks thousand

Yes definitely I just thought when applying for jobs this year I will try and go for any foundation stage ones I see come up and then see where it takes me.

Anyone else ? In terms of prep / marking/ resources for my KS1 placement there was quite a lot I could do at home, is this the same in FS?

I've just employed a teacher to work in the day nursery I manage
I know lots of nurseries that employ teachers
