Any other teachers find staying on top of housework hard?

Especially at holidays like the one just gone, I struggle to rest and not berate myself with a home 'to do' list. I find it hard to stay on top of the housework most of the time and although bathrooms and kitchen are hygienic etc, dust can build up sometimes and I never clean windows! The decoration in some rooms could do with redoing but I never feel I've done enough. I put such pressure on myself.. Even after 20 years in teaching.. You'd have thought I'd have twigged by now that I can't stay fully on top of it... In a working week I'm too knackered after getting in at 6.15 every evening. My role models in this arena are my mum who only ever worked part time and my best mate who also works part time. Both can afford decorators etc. Any other teachers feel this sense of lack of control over the house? I do try and split the number of rooms with my husband but he isn't as regular and fussy as me. My children and husband are loved, fed, clean and we all have a good relationship but I feel very crap about myself in the household arena.

DH does most of it. I do my share but he was brilliantly brought up by lovely MiL.

I think our dear friend, after an AS, is in private education. I may have got it wrong.

Looks like you are right, elephant.

I teach in a private school. Honestly it's downright relaxing compared with an inner city comp

Obviously leaves lots of time free to do housework.

I don't want to feed the ogres by continuing with this thread really but I was thinking about it yesterday. Something I find particularly difficult is that it feels like I have two 'homes' to keep on top of. The almighty horror that is my classroom (and cupboard, desk, drawers, school bag, work boxes, car boot) as well as the house itself. As a not-at-all-naturally-tidy person, this is very difficult and is probably the part of work/ home life that causes me the most stress.

Absolutely sleeper made worse when I decided to move my cupboards around on Friday and found a load of misplaced duplo blocks, pom poms, farm animals and jigsaw puzzle pieces. I added them all to my crap box which is where everything goes when a child says "I found this..." And it's from a set I out away in our storage shed the day before, this happens at least twice a day.
