I hear you. Today has been shit for me too. Not totally completely shit - still like the kids - just the hoops to jump through seem to get harder, higher and more out of reach. Hope you are ok.

Not enough time to do everything they are asking. Kids are vile creatures. Dont think.i.can make it to Xmas.

Apologies for not having worked out how to change to a better name but I was in tears in the toilets today if that makes you feel better.

I felt just like you last week, I was a sobbing mess in the staff room.
This week seems much better, for now. I'm glad I held off with the resignation. See what you feel like in the half term? The 31st is a Monday, you can still hand in your notice after the break.

No. I think they'll end up with no staff at this rate.

Kids are tetchy and tired and so are we.

I don't want to out myself, it was some stupid, nitpicky, completely irrelevant but very (!!) important nonsense.

I just feel I can't do right for doing wrong at the moment. Useless management, no discipline, no resources nor support and yet they expect miracles. i can't get my head above water because I am so exhausted by the time I get home I can't think straight.

Let me guess, you hadn't spotted a spelling mistake on the book trawl, during a learning walk the objectives were not visible on the white board because the lesson was underway and you had changed the slide, you fucked up on 'Show my homework' and a parent complained. During a learning walk you lesson was slow to start because the students were late from their PE lesson. Any other suggestions?

Now we have the "pupil voice" to contend with. The staff were shown a video of the kids essentially slagging us off. Then the head wondered why morale was so low.

We may as well all be in the same school. As long as we're all teaching in England, things are going to be shit for us. Until we get a new government I can't see anything changing.

It's not just in England ... We are the same in Scotland, staff in tears, staff off sick with stress and management doing anything apart from actually managing anything - more interested in getting everyone into cliques and breaking up a team. The endless demands and the amount of time taken up with sheet and utter nonsense is exhausting and demoralising.

I spent my whole lunch break crying in the cupboard today. I am wondering how much longer until I break.

I'm in Scotland too and the majority of people I work with are at breaking point because they are trying so hard to keep on top of everything but have realised the management haven't a clue about what they are asking of the staff. I think I would need a year without a class to even begin to feel like I was in control and on top of all the new developments.

I have been in a new school since September and I love the positive feedback and supportive atmosphere in the department

Ofsted last week and full subject review this week. Kill me now!

I'm in senior leadership and I completely value you and your effort. You are human and can only do what the time and resources you have available to you, can allow you to do.

If your children are making progress, your immediate team is working in harmony and the children enjoy their learning during YOUR contact time, then you don't need to worry about the rest. That afterschool club, letter re your trip and email re some irrelevant query, can all wait until you have had your lunch and been to the loo!

You are all doing a brilliant job. I wish I heard more positivity to keep you great hardworking teacher's motivated!
