What does your school do?

I am looking for some help regarding resources for collective worship, projecting the lyrics to worship songs specifically. We are a Primary School (ages 4-11) and do whole school assemblies.

At our school we use an old fashioned Overhead Projector (OHP) with the lyrics on acetates to project the words to the songs during assembly. It has been suggested that we should bring ourselves up-to-date and use a normal projector with the words on a computer, in PowerPoint format or similar. I have, rather naively, said that I would be able to look into this. Instead of typing the lyrics to about 60 songs individually I thought I would be able to find a website that would have just what we need (what do other schools do I wondered?!).

So far I have found this website: higherpraise.com/powerpointlyricsK.htm. It is exactly the sort of website I was thinking of however I don’t think it is aimed at the Primary Years as many (about 90%) of our songs are not on here – e.g. ‘Give me oil in my lamp’, ‘All things bright and beautiful’ etc. What does your school do? – presumably not all are using OHP’s. Can you help?

You can find the lyrics to pretty much any song you want by putting the name of the song in Google using "" around the name, and then typing lyrics.

Am at still using OHPs. I've not set eyes on one of them for many, many years!

Thank you navylily. I think my last resort will be to do as you suggest. I just thought there may be a centralised resource somewhere. If not, I may consider publishing my own!!

We have Sing Up

🖐🏻 Teacher here! Google "song name+lyrics" and you should be able to pretty much find the song words to anything you need. You can then copy & paste these into a PowerPoint. Save it as the song name & you'll be ready to go! Should just take a few minutes for each one. We also use fischy music for lots of our assemblies - it's a subscription site but they have lovely songs. My class love to sing 'You Are a Star".

We have Words On Screen from Out of the Ark

Our school has year 6 computer monitors for assembly. Part of their job is typing up the hymn words if necessary.

I use Easyworship.

Worship workshop is a good website with plenty of hymns,and download able tracks for singing along to.

In all honesty though, when we first swapped from ohp to computer projector, I drafted in a load of the older kids who wanted to help. I gave them all the ones we regularly used and they typed them in word and I just proof read them,

You need a CCLI license to project (incl acetates).

We still use the OHP too! Our school is planning to swap to some computer thing...and i am foreseeing hours of work for me typing up words... :(

My year 5s loved the job, so that saved me a lot of work.

But a lot of the words are searchable and are out there, so if you don't want to delegate, then it could be a lot more copy and pasting than typing.
