Break time / lunchtime duty (primary)

Just wondering if you could answer (some or all of) the following questions as am thinking about our current duty rota and need some external perspective:

  1. How many times do you have to do break time or lunchtime duty a week?
  2. Roughly how long is each session?
  3. Are you a teacher or TA?
  4. State or independent? (Ok if you'd rather not say).

Thanks! QEIIxx

Primary teacher in Scotland.

Nobody in any school I've ever worked in is expected to do any sort of duty. Playground supervision is carried out by classroom assistants who then take a different break

State primary.

We do 2 break duties a week at playtimes. And one session doing a ten min supervision before school and one seeing the children off the premises a week too.

No time to have a break of your own on a day where you've done a duty. A bit of difference to the infant dept where their staff level means they can then take a break while the TAs cover their classes whereas the junior staff are straight back into class.
