School Business Manager or Teaching

I'm after some guidance.

I am in the process of retraining to become a secondary teacher however a job for a School Business Manager has become available near me.

I do have the qualifications and skills to do the manager post and it does pay more than teaching but I'm not sure what to do as I think I would really enjoy teaching.

Can anyone offer advice if they have similar experience or even a School Business Manager?

How much teacher training have you actually done?

There are lots of teachers looking to quit at the moment, even ones who enjoy it. If a job came up that paid more than teaching that they could do, you wouldn't see them for dust.

I'm a school business manager. The role is vastly different from teaching, I love my job but certainly couldn't teach. What would you like to know?

Do you manage a team and if so which group of staff do you manage?

Do you work that school holidays or have you flexibility when you take your holidays?

Gosh, I'm really sorry for the delay in replying, I've only just remembered this thread.

I line manage a group of non teaching staff, so that's office, midday assistants, cleaners and caretakers.

I'm contracted to work 41 weeks which is term time (38 weeks) plus 5 inset days and 2 additional weeks throughout the year. In practice, I probably go into work one day out of every 1 or 2 week break and a few times during the summer holidays.

Having most of the holidays with my DC is brilliant but I do work long days. Typically, I'm at my desk by 8am and leave around 5.30-6.00pm. However, a couple of weeks ago we had a major event so for a couple of days I worked 7.30am - 7.00pm.

It's a brilliant job with plenty of variety and I would highly recommend it.
