It's only the third day back! I've been shattered by evening so get some sleep at night. But just like before the holidays, I wake at about 4.30 and that's it for the night.

And this is an easy week as my DC are away!

We started on Thursday... I woke a 3.30am Wednesday night and couldn't get back to sleep. I've been dizzy in the two days since term started, had to sit down a couple of times as I thought I might faint. I know I've been very anxious about starting in a new school.

My colleagues have assured me that it's normal, but still having dizzy spells today after a really good night's sleep last night. Is it normal? Am I just stressed?

NotQuiteThere, dizzy spells don't sound normal really. Hope you feel better this week. Once I'm there at work I don't feel anxious - just highly stressed but in a good way!

I slept all night last night and woke at 6.20 (normal get up time) so got up for planning. Feel quite good today though, although lots more work to do tomorrow - this will decrease as the term goes on (to be replaced by IEP stuff rather than planning).

NotQuite, check you are breathing evenly and deeply. It sounds like you are heading for a panic attack.

Thanks for your advice everyone. I've been getting the dizziness randomly over the weekend, it occurred when I was lifting heavy stuff (loading the trolley in CostCo!), then also when I am clearing stuff in the kitchen, and running out of the house with ds this morning. If it persists this week I'll see the doctor. It's definitely not normal for me.

I'll make sure I'm eating and drinking regularly, and try not to work too late. Think I've been approaching my NQT year with so much trepidation (new school), then the first week was pretty full on, even though it wasn't a full week of teaching. I've met all of my classes now and started teaching properly, so hopefully that nervousness of the unknown will subside.
