Having accepted a teaching position, even "only" verbally, one cannot then give backword?

I am positive I am right but am just double checking.

I wouldn't overthink it.
If you don't want the job, then you will not be a great employee - so just talk to them!
Would be crazy to take a job you don't want.

Happy36 - you can't! That is poor advice. It is unlikely, but possible, that you would be sued as well as being very unprofessional. Sometimes contracts are not actually signed until after you have started working in the new school. If you, or the school, decide that you regret the verbal contract you have entered into you cannot simply pull out without facing repercussions.

Fullrumpus Apologies.
