Smart Board Training

My mother is a long-term supply who did her PGCE quite a few years ago..she's happy using smart boards but would love some training in creating lessons, using software - basically, she needs some basics and to build up skills. Does anyone know anywhere/one who could help/where she could find a course for this kind of thing. I think there is online training but she really would like a human being. Apologies if this question doesn't make complete sense - I'm not a teacher myself, and thank you in advance for any advice.

I did a course through the NQT a few years ago so it's worth looking at her union's website to see if they offer anything in her area.

There are also quite a few videos on youtube.

Great - many thanks, I (she) hadn't thought of union websites as a resource...

I was very bored one day and reading the union magazine (of course I meant NUT not NQT in my post above) and happened to see a 6 week twilight course running at a local college. I wasn't expecting to get any CPD that year so it gave me something to put on job applications. Quite a few of the people there were doing supply.

A close relative of mine is a Smart board trainer (used to an an ICT consultant for the LEA, before they got rid of those roles). Most of the training she does now is in-house for schools and other educational institutions, but I can ask her if she knows of any privately run courses in the upcoming future. Where are you based?

Sorry MagratGarlik, I've been slow to check this. Thanks for this reply. My mum's based in London. If your relative knows of any privately run courses (or would even do a morning herself as a privately paid, private booking) then I think my mother would be really interested.

Hi smeraldina, my relative lives quite far out of London, so the cost including travel would probably be prohibitively expensive. I'll ask her if she knows someone around London area though as she does have good contacts with other trainers elsewhere.

That would be fantastic - thank you

If she is long term supply can she not ask the school she is at. I am a teacher and have provided smart board training to various people over the years. I'm sure someone in school would be happy to so it.
