KS2 to EYFS or KS1

Hi all,
Basically I'm really interested in making this change at some point in my early teaching career. Prior to teacher training I'd always been on placements or working in nursery up to KS1. On my pgce 2 of my 3 placements were in KS2 and the placement in KS1 was during SATs time so wasn't really a big key stage one placement.

I just want some advice or some tales of anyone who has successfully moved down the year groups in school.

Thanks

I've done it. 2 years in year 5, 4 in year 6 (and loved it), then 2 terms in year 4, 2 as a SENCO (group teaching in KS2 only to statemented children) and then went to teach a mixed age 1/2 class. Yes - it was incredibly hard! At least I stepped down over the course of a year - year 6 to year 1 would have been unimaginable.

I now love the fact that the children are so enthusiastic and I'm teaching them things for the first time. I don't love the fact that they can't work together (today's attempt at group work a case in point...) and some of them can't sit still, even for a couple of minutes. I love the fact that they don't write much so marking doesn't take long - I don't love having to spend ages deciphering what they've written. I love the fact that they make progress so quickly in KS1 but don't love the additional set up and preparation required. If their books, pencils etc aren't on the tables they lose so much learning time hunting for them.

Does that help?!? Plenty of people do move between key stages - staying put would be easier as you're in your comfort zone, but I have a very low boredom threshold....
