Hi,

I just wondered how everyone else organises their books, pencils, crayons, rulers, and whiteboard stuff on their tables. I currently have 4 magazine files for books - I think I could do with 10 (5 tables one for lit and one for num) but they are so expensive!!

I really need to sort my tables out! I took over a Y1 class at Easter and need to some organisation!

Any ideas, and links?!

I use cutlery trays on the tables for glues, pencils, scissors, whiteboard pens snd highlighters. The groups in my class are the primary colours and I managed to get one in each primary colour. I don't generally keep anything else on the tables all the time. For their books I have curver boxes on the side and I have the books in their and put on the tables at the start of the lessons. I also find that in the past if I need trays for stuff cat litter trays are cheap and also can tend to find in the primary colours as well. Other things I have used are the sink caddies and decorated with stickers.

Also used these as hold alot and stuck stickers on or got children to decorate in what ever you call your groups or they gave written their names on.

I've got these for felt tip pens and any other random small crap, which collects on their tables (Lego pieces, old rubbers, etc.): www.ikea.com/PIAimages/09194_PE085641_S5.JPG
However, my class have their own pencil cases. They are in Year 6 after all. Grin
Exercise books simply go into my bookshelf. I don't have "groups", though. (I'm not a great fan of all this grouping business.) Even if I did, they'd just all get dumped there anyway. Blush
Whiteboards are in a pile on their tables, they've got whiteboard pens in their pencil cases. All that's "allowed" to be on their tables are their whiteboards and their pencil cases. I don't really like having anything else. It's already too cluttered.
A colleague of mine simply puts everything into one of the deeper trays and plonks one of those on each table. If we need stuff like that, it gets ordered through the school, though.

I also have cleaning /horse grooming caddies. One side is full length so fits whiteboards and rulers. The other holds a box of coloured pencils, pens, scissors etc. I've tried loads of options but found these the best!

I feel a shopping trip coming up!

Thank you!

You shouldn't have to pay for these yourself bumpinthenight. Could you not claim the money back? I would never expect the teachers in my school to have to buy resources such as these with their own money.
