Felling sorry for myself a tiny bit.Five interviewees.... Three let go at lunch.Just myself and pretty, young, inexperienced and less qualified girl and she gets the post. Male head. Young girl was very nice, bright and on many levels I am glad she was given her chance. Good luck to her. On the other I feel my age and experience count for very little. I also felt very sad for the candidates let go at lunch....all three very nice and have something good to offer. I do feel that there is a glut of teachers just being under valued or being denied any chance to succeed.Awful situation....

Wow. Patronising? I meant it as supportive, as I know how it feels to be disappointed after not getting a job. Never mind though.

You are the one making assumptions here. When you mention the head's gender (completely irrelevant) and the fact that the younger teacher was 'pretty' (also irrelevant), don't be shocked when people comment with that in mind.

Also, I have worked with many experienced colleagues who inspired me and had a lot to offer my school. Not sure where in my post I 'dismissed the value of an older person's knowledge and experience base.' Perhaps read it properly next time and think about what I'm saying.

Ellie re read your post and think about what you have just said.

FWIW, I think you are being very harsh on Ellie OP. Her first post does not "dismiss the value of an older person's knowledge and experience base" at ALL.

You reply to her "I have not said she did not deserve the job on her own merit or that she wasn't bright" - when in fact, that is exactly what you insinuated when you said that the woman that got the job was young, pretty..."male head".

You sound very cynical indeed, also very touchy.

Fuckmath · 07/02/2015 19:20

Op you are not coming out of this well at all

You sound bitter, a bit entitled and very chippy

SylviaPouncer · 10/02/2015 23:06

To be fair, I've always felt bitter, entitled and a bit chippy when I have been turned down at a job interview.
Smile Chin up, OP.

FWIW, she may not be cheaper. Under the new STPC anyone can apply for UPS, regardless of their length of service.
