extra lesson per week has been been added to my timetable without discussion with me... how shall I say that it woudl be good to discuss first and also, it is not particularly good time to add extra lesson as I have taken already some additional responsibilities... and want to do well ....will I sound picky and difficult in not accepting the needs of the Department ?

Are you under on your timetable? If so, then there's not a lot you can do.

Yes I'm afraid however inconvenient the school can do it with zero notice if you are under on your hours. I agree that you should have been consulted but AFAIK you would only have a leg to stand on if your timetable was disproportionate in comparison to everyone else in your department.

Trust me, I've been there and it sucks.

i am on maximum hours expected. so othrr teachers have the same as me or less..

Maybe check your faculty timetable and see if there is anyone else free at the same time who has more free time than you. I think solving the problem for your HoD is the only way you will get out of having the extra class.

If the additional responsibilities you have taken on are unpaid, you could always say that with the additional teaching time you would now be unable to deal with the extra workload and so will have to drop them. But be wary of UPS applications, performance management, that sort of thing.

Is anyone under these days? We're all on the very minimum of PPA time. Even so-called gained time after Year 11 have finished (no study leave) is allocated these days. Have to go into lessons and support lit/num.
