Need a new job using my SEN teaching skills...need ideas

So New Years resolution get out of the job I hate as I'm at risk of being a moany depressed teacher! I need a big change. Out of the mainstream classroom and doing something else, ideally something which would fit around childcare with a part time/take your own child with you/work at home element (don't want much do I) I need your ideas....
Quick background. Pgce in middle years English, taught primary 3yrs at independent school, done lots of DofE, outward bound trip type extra curricular, 5yrs senco at mainstream secondary teaching in specialist unit and now inco at secondary academy.
I used to have the best job in the world leading a class in a specialist unit (ASD, MLD, PD, Vi, pmld etc) I had a class of statmented pupils aged 13-19 mostly working at p level and I created a community curriculum going out and about whilst completed Asdan stuff. I loved working with pupils with high levels of need. Then I moved due to hubby relocating.
The obvious choice is a class teacher in a special school working part time but they are not that many vacancies around so I'm thinking I need to work outside of a school environment... What could I do? And where do I go to find different jobs....
I'm applying to mark SATs papers as I'm prepare to leave current job before I get a new one. Don't think I'm qualified to mark GCSEs though. Any other moneymaking tips?

I have no experience in this area, but could you offer respite care for families with kids (old or young) within the specialist areas you prefer ie higher needs?
Tho I guess it would need to be kids not in formal schooling to work within your childcare? So maybe 18-30 yrs?

I was going to suggest contacting the virtual school for Looked After Children to see if they could use your skills. A quick google shows that they have a deputy head position available here. Whilst it might not be the kind of thing you're after, they may be able to use your skills as a tutor.

You could also look into becoming an ABA home tutor for children with ASD- check locally for vacancies or contact an organisation like Peach

if you are within shouting distance of west sussex I have an opening tutoring and school shadowing my little boy (8 years old, has ASD, in MS school and doing very well on aba programme he has been on since 2!). My only concern is you are prob over qualified! but if it is of interest or you would like to know more let me know.

Tutoring and supply

I signed up for supply and have already had to turn down four permanent jobs in SEN - and I've only been doing this three weeks.

I would agree that Special Schools and Resource Bases seem to have a difficult time recruiting. I had terrible trouble finding staff, espcailly with QTS, for the big Resource Base I ran in the South East. I have just moved to the West Country and thought I would have a hard time getting a job at all, but walked into one in an ASD base and was able to negotiate pt hours on my terms.

I would apply for full time SS/ Resource jobs that come up and see if you can negotiate part time.

Specialist teacher for the specialist teaching team? START manager? Visual impairment teacher? There have been vacancies for all those positions locally to me recently.

Blimey funky that's good going! I need to get out of mainstream teaching anytime soon as well!
