What would be good? - I've thought of a mug with Miss xxxxx on it or lots of reward stickers - am stumped now. Is there anything that would be useful in her placement or when she hopefully gets a job. She's doing Upper Primary.

All ideas welcome, ta.

Oh and if she doesn't have it there is a book called, "getting the buggers to behave"

Hi,

Another vote for a laminator and guillotine - made my life so, so much easier.

Whistle and electric pencil sharpener are also great ideas.

The little pocketbooks for teaching from Amazon are brilliant - how about an Amazon voucher so she can buy a couple of her choice? Or there is a great book about getting a teaching job - again really helpful ideas in that.

I love nice post-it notes, fun A4 lever-arch binders and cool pens.

You sound like a lovely mum.

Decent staple gun and lots of staples.

I'd get a good quality puppet like these they're brill even at upper ks2 and get loads of use out of them. I often buy them as presents for students etc.

chipsandpeas · 18/11/2014 21:23

lots of wine

Deffo a thermal mug.
Funky post-it notes.
Don't buy expensive pens, as they go walkabout so easily, but a packet of gel pens might be good, or a big 'zany' pen (eg with feathers) which no student will dare steal because it so obviously Miss X's pen.
Yes to a stapler - you can get coloured staples too, which are fun.
Tea, biscuits (ones that are portioned into little packets), Nakd bars for easy energy boosts.
Doug Lemov's, 'Teach Like a Champion' is a useful book for a new teacher. None of the ideas are new or particularly innovative, but he has gathered together lots of v useful things in one book.

Cath Kidston do nice lanyards.
You could put it all together (each item wrapped separately!) in a book bag.

I asked my DD if she wanted anything like this (teacher training too) and she for xmas she wanted anything BUT school related things as she doesn't want to think of school over the holidays and is so fed up of it!!!
But the stickers/stampers with her name sound fab...

DontGotoRoehampton · 29/11/2014 17:21

depressing all this job related stuff. How about lovely soft pyjamas so she can slob about over Xmas?

clary · 29/11/2014 17:23

YY specially made stamper is a brill idea

TheReluctantCountess · 29/11/2014 20:44

PTS is good for personalised stampers.

Teachers never really switch off - we're constantly thinking about our kids.

So many suggestions for things to help her do admin work she shouldn't be doing! There are staff in school to do laminating/displays - well, there are in my school. (I wish we had a filing fairy though)
I'd have loved a foot massage and pedicure with a glass or 2 of champagne. In fact I still would, even though my PGCE was 24 years ago!
