Uppity staff on school trip.

I've just come back from leading a school trip and one of the teachers I took with me was a nightmare. He questioned every decision I made and ripped all my ideas and (extremely careful) planning apart. I think he is just someone who likes being in charge and likes to do things his own way. I like teachers to use their initiative in trips and not stand around like lemons, but surely they shouldn't be overturning the trip leader's decisions and plans without discussing it first?
Just ranting.
Anyone else had to deal with this sort of thing?

Sounds bloody awful! How rude. Afraid I've never had to deal with similar - do you feel like approaching him about his behaviour or leaving it?

Bit difficult as we are actually good friends; I have been very taken aback by his behaviour as I thought I had a top notch team for the trip. Had some tricky kids with me abroad for a few days so was expecting them to provide me with a few headaches but not the flipping teachers. I think the teacher though I wasn't capable or something and I have a horrible feeling that it's because I'm a woman. No evidence for this, just a feeling.

Thought, not though.

Hmm, well, only you know him well enough to know whether it's a sexism issue. Maybe use the fact he's your friend to help your conversation with him? If it were my good teacher mate I'd say "Here, you were a bit of a knobber on that trip!" But I don't suppose that's a universal approach... Smile
