Job share woes - I feel sick

Been a long rumbling history of being undermined by job-share partner with poor teaching skills. Has got to the point where I have been asked to take over the bulk of the planning. This has not gone down well. Constant complaints about me, both to SLT where thankfully I have been supported, and, more recently to the advisory team on the LEA (we are, needless to add, a failing school). It is really stressing me out. Has got to the point where jobshare is obsessively hectoring me about delivering the - very poor quality - part of the planning that is 'hers'. I am working my guts out to get standards up, partner goes on mat leave at Easter and openly admits to having no interest in end of year results. I am so stressed I don't know what to do!

Contact your union. It's good you have the backing of SLT.

What age are the class?

AriadneMannering · 27/09/2014 21:27

Would union have a role in this kind of issue? Class - v young.

You have nothing to lose by contacting your union for advice.

Talk to friendly member of SLT. They need to know how stressed you are by the whole situation. Get them to set your priorities for you ie what to do and what to not do, how to respond etc. Agree about talking to union too. You need someone in real life you can talk it through with. They might not be able to change much, but just feeling you've been listened to should help, and talking to someone will help you to order your thoughts.

This won't help with the main issue, but I find with these time limited problems, crossing through each completed week of the term on the calendar with a thick black pen makes you feel better.

HamAndPlaques · 28/09/2014 19:50

Possibly difficult if she is pg but if your jobshare partner is incompetent then SLT need to provide intensive support, and, if necessary, pursue capability.

Thank you all. It has taken a long time for SLT to believe what is going on but now that they do I definitely have support. It's a fairly small school and everyone is stretched to the limit, but yes, being heard has helped tremendously.
It's nothing I can't handle, but there is massive pressure on for results and this is where the energy should be going. This weekend has been enormously stressful, and I don't have anyone to offload to at home. So thanks for listening! Hopefully next week I will be able to get on with my job, which is daunting enough in itself!
