Anyone had their SATs papers back yet?

English + Maths came back yesterday and I have levelled them with last year's thresholds (pointless, I know, but I just couldn't help myself...)

Maths is exactly what I expected, but Reading is a disaster - loads of mine who have scored 5s on past papers all year have scored 32, 33 or 34 and just missed a 5. Let's hope the thresholds are lower...

Well we had our reading back today - a couple of disappointments but mostly ok. Anyone else? If the 32 for L5 thing is correct I will be so relieved....

BonnieBeaumont · 30/06/2014 21:49

Anyone else still waiting for their papers?

TheDuchessOfSalford · 30/06/2014 22:22

We had Maths 3-5 back today. They were pretty good, much as we were hoping/expecting score-wise. Still waiting on L6 papers...

TheEnchantedForest · 30/06/2014 22:27

L6 papers are marked electronically so we don't get the papers back. they can be viewed online on 8th July-when the thresholds are published. the same goes for the SPaG tests.
Only maths and reading L3-5 are returned.

We are still waiting for our reading papers. maths looks good (this makes me think thresholds may be raised!) but worried about some of our 4c and 5c children. It won't take much to drop them down a level. Hate the waiting!

CatKisser · 01/07/2014 06:40

Ah yeah, forgot that about the other papers. So we've had all we're going to have back. Well, a week until thresholds. I will actually cry if by some miracle the maths threshold is 75.

cece · 01/07/2014 17:12

We have our reading back. One of ours, who is usually a low 20, has got 14 !!

CatKisser · 01/07/2014 17:59

That's a bloody shame, cece. Sad I've got one on 18 and one on 19...!

TheEnchantedForest · 01/07/2014 21:15

Ah, such a shame Cece
We also have one on 18' one on 19 and a couple on 20. On all previous SATs papers plus my own TA they are secure 4As. Arghhhh.

need an 18 and 33 threshold or we are down on progress and attainment.

partystress · 08/07/2014 01:17

Reading: 12 = L3; 19= L4; 32 = L5

Maths: 15 = 2; 18 = 3; 46 = 4; 79 = 5

Don't know SPAG, sorry, but seems to have thrown up similar split to last year - ie lot of 5s, not many fours, lot of 3s (and for the first time for us a LOT of N scores - spelling Angry)

We got no L6 reading (again Sad), but more than doubled our L6 maths Smile.

MrsKCastle · 08/07/2014 06:36

L5 reading is 32?

All thresholds can be viewed here.

32 for reading :) woo hoo!

ScrambledEggAndToast · 08/07/2014 07:17

So when do parents get the results? Is it today? DSs school hasn't told us when it will be.

MrsKCastle · 08/07/2014 07:35

ScrambledEgg it very much depends on the individual school- some will get them out today, many will take a day or two, or wait and send them with the reports. It also depends how well the government websites hold up as Spag and level 6 have to be accessed online.

CatKisser · 08/07/2014 08:20

SO pleased with my sixes in Maths and writing - none in reading AGAIN though.
Too many threes in SPaG and that 79 for Maths hasn't done us any favours.
I'd been mentally working on a 32 threshold (foolishly perhaps) so I'm really pleased it turned out to be correct. That's helped us no end.
We're telling the kids today.

gymboywalton · 08/07/2014 14:11

glad the l5 reading threshold went down to 32
just wish i could find out my son's results today-got to wait till friday-aarrgghh!

reup · 08/07/2014 17:30

Do parents get a separate level for each for reading/writing/spag? If not, how is it weighted?

TheEnchantedForest · 08/07/2014 20:38

There is no longer an overall English level.
you will receive their maths, reading and SPaG levels. I think the writing (teacher assessed) is also reported at the same time.

reup · 08/07/2014 20:42

Thanks.

reup · 08/07/2014 21:19

Do they put all of the different English results in league tables?

phlebasconsidered · 08/07/2014 22:39

Watching with interest. Just sat my Year 5's the Year 6 paper and a fair few results are surprising. Unsurprisingly, a good many of them lost interest in the potato entirely. What I wans't expecting was my level 3's to pick up level 5 points, and my level 5's to drop the potato points. Was it just me or was the potato part spectacularly dull and rubbishy?

partystress · 08/07/2014 23:11

I'm not sure the whole L3 and Level 5 questions thing really applied to the reading paper this year. Although we were told the texts would ramp up in difficulty, the easiest marks were in the middle section, and not all the Qs on White Fang were that stretching. And yes, spud-we-don't-like.... Our overall levels have stayed pretty much the same as last year, but we have more discrepancies between our test results and teacher assessments, because it was less predictable IYSWIM.
