Help, worrying emails!

Basically to me, on my day off, cc'd to my jobshare, telling me to make sure I 'had a handle' on things! it's come a bit out of the blue and I am concerned. There was another one about a file (kept by secretary) being in a mess. Should I seek advice now, or wait and see what's going on?

From whom?

Guilianna · 17/06/2014 22:10

HT!

What specifically do they want you to have a handle on? Has anyone raised any concerns about you before? Have you replied?

Guilianna · 17/06/2014 22:22

On the class, I think. It's a bit vague. No, no concerns. I actually tried to leave earlier and they asked me to stay! Lots of internal politics and friction about, though. I replied to ask for face to face meeting.

Grimmest day at work that I can remember, jobshare has been complaining about me, HT supporting. Basically said I really want to leave and warned not to break contract. Help. I can't cope any more, been unhappy for ages. Can't do it til Xmas. What can I do?

The most painful moment is over now. Tomorrow and in the subsequent days things will become clearer and you may find it's just what you need to get you moving and onto a happier job. It may be a blessing. In the meantime rally your forces, gather your friends around you, those who remind you how worthwhile you are and hang in there.

What kind words. Really helped me to read that after a sleepless night. There is no one at school I get on with (there were, they've all left). Got to hold it together in front of class. How can I persuade them to let me leave?! will I ever get another job, my confidence is in shreds.

Are you in a union? Talk to them.

Make notes about everything. Print off emails and file them. If they have a problem with you, they need to make it formal. Don't let them bully you out of a job.

Twitterqueen · 19/06/2014 17:34

Ask what evidence the HT has.
Then say that you are owed the chance to discuss this - in private.

Is this normally how things are handled in school? It sounds terribly unprofessional to me. Totally wrong to cc in the jobshare and not to discuss any performance issues privately with you beforehand.

As summer says. Don't let them bully you. Stay quiet, stay firm, stay in control. If you have not been performing as expected they have to tell you that and give the opportunity to improve.

If a file's a mess... Define 'mess'.

If it's a problem, they should all to you about it and give you the chance to put it right.

I think it's good to have the emails as you have evidence.

SummerSummer · 19/06/2014 17:38

(Although, I agree, you shouldn't have been cc'd into them in the first place).

My performance is always good, not so jobshare. Job share however regularly complains about me to HT. HT even said so what if I'd had a few good lessons (we are RI so loads of obs, mostly on my days).
The file is a disaster but I was asked to check it for new info to act on, not take it on, despite proposing a complete new admin system.
Jobshare communicates with me as if I am TA rather than equal partner.
I have asked for union advice on getting out as it's never going to get better.
