I've just seen the date of the 26th March has been confirmed.

Totally agree, Cardi. If the union is out, I'm out.

DH didn't strike last time but will be in March. I think ALL teachers need to strike this time. Gove's playing a game, saying he'd meet them so they'd call off the February strike and then changing his mind again. If he's not careful the tide will turn against him as surely parents will have to start reading behind the headlines now.

I read that he said he'd met with the unions 40 times since he's been in office and he can't understand why they're saying he hasn't. Except the unions retaliated by saying he's met them one to discuss the issues they're striking over and 39 times to discuss curriculum and exam changes. Hmm

Disingenuous bastard!

The unions annoy me intensely and I wish to God they could get their points across better than sounding petulant and spoilt. But the teachers really need to stand up to Gove and parents really need to support them.

I'll be on strike - that close to the end of term I'll be on my knees and glad of a day off. Bit pissed off it's my PPA day though.... (Obviously I agree about supporting the union, Gove being a tosser who is destroying education in this country etc etc etc. But a day off will be lovely too).

Snugglesrock · 10/02/2014 20:10

Nasuwt undecided as yet letter in post today says that

I would imagine we will be out too tho

And yes we all need to strike. Those who really really can't afford to strike can access hardship funds, but the strike is hopefully an investment into all our futures, so for that I'm happy to lose a days pay!!! Smile

BatmanLovesRobins · 10/02/2014 20:28

It's my PPA day too Sad. I will strike. I think Gove is a very dangerous man indeed.

I agree. Unfortunately, I really don't think the parents will be behind us :(

I don't work on Wednesdays, or I would be striking.

Unfotunately, last time, I was the only teacher in my school to go on strike. There are 14 teachers, of whom 12 are NUT and NASUWT. 12 teachers, and only one of us on strike. I was deeply saddened. I agree with a previous poster - if the unions call a strike, you strike.

ravenAK · 11/02/2014 17:49

That's shocking Litlefish.

I do hope none of them could look you in the eye next day.

Yesrollon - the parents will not be one board at all, at least at my school. We just had the results of the parent questionnaire back - one parent commented on the lack of clubs for Reception children 'as it makes working parents' lives difficult' Sad
