Resignation question, will I have to write the reports?

I am in Primary and want to resign and leave at the end of the Spring Term. Could anyone tell me, should I give my resignation date as the end of April, or end of the holidays, and do you think I will be asked to write the end of year reports? Thank you

When do your end of year reports go out?

If it is after the date you leave, then you should not be expected to write them, but you could reasonably be expected to leave detailed notes for whoever takes over from you.

I think you probably need to speak to your union with regard to the end date for your resignation letter to ensure that you have continuity of contract (if you are moving to another teaching job, and to ensure that you are paid over the Easter Break).

I think from memory (not teaching at the mo). If you leave and don't go to another school they should pay you till end of April. If you go to another school they should pay you till the last day of the holiday and the new school from the first day of the summer term.

Thank you both, I will not be going to another school so I guess I should give the date as the end of the Easter holiday.

Report date will be after I leave so as you say Littlefish I will leave notes for the new teacher.

You may well be asked to write the reports and give them to the new teacher electronically for them to update in the summer term as you will have taught the class for the majority of the time. I have seen this happen before several times but equally some where the new teacher was expected to write them.

It would make sense for you to write them. Are you leaving teaching altogether or moving to a new school?
If you're leaving teaching you could say no to the request (if it occurs)
I should think.
