A question - how many teachers on here are thinking of quitting due to Gove?

Everyone I know who teaches and can afford to SAH with their children is going to hand in their notice this year. Many others are looking for new careers. Is this as widespread as I think it'll be?

Who - I could try it I guess.

MY husband doesn't earn a lot, so I need to start thinking long term if I'm going to find a non-teaching job/retrain/ want something I can do when I can't retire at 80...

No storynanny definitely not early retirement -she's nowhere near pension age and told me she's using the voluntary redundancy money to fund her fees - by very early I meant to say she was still effectively mid-career not approaching retirement. Whatever the circumstances, I am very glad she made the decision to quit teaching and retrain!

I'm retraining at night to become a psychologist. I've got 2.5 years left (I consider that I'm a student who is working to fund myself and it takes a lot of pressure off).

I'm just jaded with teaching. It's not the job it was when I got into it 15 years ago, so time for a change.
