PGCE South London

I'm planning to start a PGCE in Sept 2014 and would like to know if anyone can recommend a university? We live in SE London and I have two primary-aged DC who will be in school, so a uni in south London or central would suit best. Don't want to waste precious time commuting!!

I'll start another thread to ask about SchoolsDirect vs PGCE... Smile

London University. Institute of Education

Russell Square, eh? Right next door to where I did my MA (a few, ahem, years back). Central and highly regarded, I should have thought of that myself! Thank you.

Perhaps a better question to ask is this: how many weeks do you spend going into the uni, as opposed to being on a school placement? In which case the location of the uni is less important.

I admit I was thinking Goldsmiths, or maybe LSBU.

Will answer you more fully on your School Direct thread 9can';t see it?) as that is what I have done - will still get a PGCE with masters credits at the end of the year, but have better control over geog location of schools (which is where more time is spent - hardly any at the uni)

The Institute will hold lectures at the Russell Square location and then you will be sent to schools in your area usually, or as they see fit. You are in school for more time than at uni.
