Teaching literacy to adults

I don't know if this is the right place to post...

I've thought for a while that I'd really like to teach basic skills, particularly literacy, to adult learners - I've looked and looked to see what I need to do (including the talent website), but am still a bit bemused and wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction. I have a English Lit degree, but no real teaching experience.

I've found a course near me that offers a CELTA with a PTLLS, would this be a good start? Or is doing the CELTA not so helpful for what I want to do...

Thanks!

If you do PTTLLS with a degree you won't probably need any other qualifications unless it is specifically for ESOL/EAL.

Thanks - so do I just need to do a PTTLLS course?

You may find after that that a specific diploma in Literacy may be useful but not essential. If you have a FE/HE college nearby you could ask them what they recommend as a minimum.
