Not a teacher but can I ask a quick question?

Ofsted are in at my DS's school today and tomorrow. They break up a week tomorrow. Is that bad timing?

No worries about school by the way, I am thrilled with it. It just seems that Ofsted wouldn't get the same picture as a week in October or something.

Bad timing for the teachers who will be frantically prepping new stuff to do instead of the nice doesn't-need-marking stuff that they had originally planned.

At least there will be lots of here's-all-the-progress-each-pupil-has-made ready. The pupils will be able to talk about everything they've done.... it's not all bad.

Pretty bad timing, yes. I'd be more worried about the heat than the holidays, though. Trying to get children to stay calm and focused is a huge challenge in this weather.

Hopefully the teachers will have some nice creative activities up their sleeves, and as ReadytoOrder says they can at least show lots of progress!

Thanks both. I feel really sorry for the teachers, and feel it's just unfair. Watching a class of children a week from breaking up in 32 degree heat is totally different to a few weeks into the Autumn term isn't it?

They also have visiting children from the First School doing their 'move up' activity days.

We had them right at the end of the summer term once, it didn't make any difference to any other inspection.

Just hope all went well katy. Results in September presumably.

Surely every teacher knows the result of their inspection as soon as the HT has had feedback on the last day? I've known all ours and all my friends in schools have known their school results...despite the embargo.

I think it's not published till two weeks after and the school aren't supposed to say anything till then.

sparkling usual procedure is that the school (ie HT and at least Chair of Govs, possibly other govs) will be told at the closing feedback meeting. The result is strictly confidential until the official report is published.

We knew the day ours finished, but weren't allowed to say anything until 2 weeks later, we weren't allowed to discuss it over email to other colleqgues, etc. But then SMT told the school council

School will probably put it onto their website as soon as they are given the go-ahead.

Sparkling, the school almost certainly know but they won't be saying. Was this the middle school or the high school? (the middle school was done earlier this term/last term I think, so am assuming the high school)

Yes DS1's High School katy. I have read the newsletter properly and the Headmaster says he does know but will be sharing in September.

Ofsted are a law unto themselves, much like Michael Gove really. Damn, there isn't an appropriate smiley to go with that! I guess I will have to resort to for them!
