Do teachers get paid over the holidays?

I know they don't in the US, but what about over here?

In regards to the post about maternity cover pay, that would depend on your contract. It may be until a certain date e.g teacher's return which may not include summer holidays. Schools now have the freedom to set their own pay/contract terms out. A mat cover post is different to an ordinary post as effectively you are only covering for the post holders absence & they have the right to return whenever they choose. X

I am also in Scotland and on mat leave - in my last pay I was paid for holidays accrued, as when my mat leave started I hadn't been paid for all the holidays in that academic year.

By the time I plan to go back, I will have accrued holidays - it works as one day for each long weekend/half week and two days for each week. I'm able to tag them onto my mat leave so I can be off for an extra month on full pay.
