Urgh. Just, urgh.

Year 9 English. They've done really well; they work hard; they deserve my time and attention. But... Urgh. Even using four different stamps doesn't make it okay.

Anyone else suffering at the moment?

English teacher here and I seldom take work home ... I will work till five a few nights a week...this depends on the time of year etc...and lunch and free periods. I do mark quite quickly so I know it could take longer. There's no need to sacrifice yourselves and your lives...they don't pay is enough and lets face it no one thanks you, or cares how long it takes. I'm a fab of aifl ...making less to achieve more!

We have a new SLG-imposed 'every book, every week' policy.

So I have a new 'no pen marking' policy, when I'm only marking to satisfy the SLuGs & not because there's owt that needs marking. It involves LOTS of stickers & I can do a set of books in under an hour.

Obviously I won't have read much of what I'm 'marking', but that doesn't seem to matter to the SLuGs.

Raven, I love that you call them the SLuGs. Ours are SLT rather than SLG. I wonder if I could get away with referring to them as the SLuTs... Grin

Heh, it slightly backfired on me - one of my best mates at work is a SLuG.

He rushed out of the staffroom to SLG meeting a few weeks ago, trilling: 'Must run! Late for SLuG party!', noticed HT raising an eyebrow in the corner & flustered 'Don't blame me - raven started it!'

Yeah. Thanks for that! Grin.

One of my best mates at work is SLT. She wouldn't mind in the least but is likely to get caught out in exactly the same way! I reckon our HT would Grin but the evil bitch from hell deputy would be AngryAngryAngryAngry and totally fail to see the funny side.

I see over 140 kids a will so there's just no way I can look at each jotter every will but I love the idea of stickers! I only mark essays now...no time these days for checking wee exercises etc. the keep cramming more into what have to do!
