I know there is a thread about the theft of some pre publication editions of this book.
This thread is more by way of a book club discussion about the actual book , the text. Threads will go where they will , but my intention is this is more for me to give my opinion on the book and for others who read it or are interested in the book to join in. I have pre-ordered from Kindle (half price otherwise I may not have 😊) But is only available on September 22nd. So a holding place if you like.

@MrsFinkelstein

I have

You can Google Williams anger yourself

And I’ve ignored similar veiled smears but this is being repeated . Are you trying to insinuate that I am a ‘paid stan’ ?
That is against talk guidelines

@jeffgoldblum When did William hit his father on the head, repeatedly, in front of cameras??

Did they mean when he was a literal baby?
Or when he affectionately tickled his cheek in the Coronation rehearsal?

How did I miss him hitting Charles repeatedly, on TV???

Oh god, the claims get ever more weird.

Ive ignored the childish nonsense several times but you are repeating it

Are you trying to insinuate that I am a ‘paid stan’ yes or no?

Nope. I'm just saying the only people I've seen promoting the "William is always incandescent with rage" are paid Sussex stans. I'm not saying you are, I'm questioning where you get your information from.

Edit to add - because I've repeatedly asked you to provide links to your claims, and you have never done so. Just saying Google it, doesn't work, cite your sources please. If it's all over the tabloids, you should find it easy.

Fair enough, I suppose we all come at this from different angles?

You might at least give her credit for very much not being obsequious to the royals? 😀

No one is saying she was a saint except those who want to knock her down.

The St Diana trope wasn’t believed by anyone of sound mind at the time, maybe with the exception of some of those people who sleep all night on the mall to catch a glimpse of a carriage whizzing past, but most people clocked that she was someone with flaws who found herself in a very difficult position, with the whole world watching, from a very young age.

She didn’t need to do the interview to stay famous. She was already one of the most famous women in the world and she was seeking protection.

Edited

She did the interview to make sure that, after a divorce, she remained a senior royal. That she would be "The Queen in People's Hearts". It was a bid for her form of uber royalty.
It's fine for her fans to still acknowledge her as royal, that's what she wanted.

She wanted to still have the royal titles and cachet - that's fine, her choice. The interview broke her 13 year old son though, and that's unforgivable.

Ukisgaslit · 25/09/2026 14:59

@MrsFinkelstein

So you are not trying to imply that I am a ‘paid stan’ .
Good because it is childish nonsense designed to smear posters
Perhaps you should be more careful with your phrasing .

I get my information the same way you do .

Maybe it means he was sitting on a tv in the palace so we wouldn’t have seen it <clutches in vain at straws> 🤔

minor typo

I don't hate her. I don't hate anyone.
I question royalty though.
I would never be obsequious. It's fine for the ultra royalist posters on here - it's an opinion, fine. I reject the Saint Diana of Kensington trope. That's all.
Whenever I dare to question her I get attacked..
"Why do you hate her" when I have shown no hate.

Yes, I hate the Saint Diana trope as well.

bluegreygreen · 25/09/2026 15:02

Pipedreams607 · 25/09/2026 14:39

Why not address the question though bluegreygreen?

Why don’t you criticise Charles for doing exactly the same thing?

I was not asked a question.

Someone decided to make specific assumptions about my posting.

With regard to Charles, if you can show me evidence of him carrying out the behaviour I called deplorable in my post, I will happily criticise it.

Ukisgaslit · 25/09/2026 15:04

@bluegreygreen

Charles did an interview and book about his marriage first .

You made no mention of it while criticising Diana for doing the same .

Are you unaware of the fact that Charles did this ?
If so now you know .
If you did know , the omission was what I was questioning
Which was it ?

quaintireneofrye · 25/09/2026 15:09

Illegally18 · 25/09/2026 15:02

Yes, I hate the Saint Diana trope as well.

The thing is, it does her no justice. She was human and made mistakes. She also used her title and position to help others. Like most people, she was complicated.
I can't tell you how often this has happened - I've criticised her behaviour and I get the snap back -
"Why do you hate her?".
It's so binary.

noonames · 25/09/2026 15:17

It’s so confusing - Harry is the one who admits assaulting people, he is the one described by his childhood nanny as ‘born angry’. Where has all this stuff about William come from - he used to row with his dad (as many do) and once pushed his mother away when she went for a hug after humiliating him (aged 13). That equals permanently incandescent apparently, despite being seen in public regularly for decades without any hint of a temper or aggression.

I expect next we’ll be hearing how permanently stupid William is, because he can’t cope when his autocue fails.

KCitsweyourHammiewevecomehomenow · 25/09/2026 15:20

Both Charles and Diana’s interviews had a terrible effect on their children. They were both selfish.

Its interested that Harry has followed down the same path while William has chosen differently, but for some reason William is the bad guy because he’s chosen to move on and let his work do the talking and keep his feelings and thoughts private

We know that Harry has had massive problems with his temper, his lack of tolerance and poor self management. This is well documented, and properly (not just in tabloids). He has talked of his problems with anger, alcohol and substance abuse.
I'm not sure why people target William in this respect?

Yes, very good points. There was someone on tv recently, who knew them and said "William has the best parts of both his parents, Harry the worst" which I thought was interesting.

KCitsweyourHammiewevecomehomenow · 25/09/2026 15:24

I think the interviews were selfish (in my opinion) but both Charles and Diana were raised differently to me, and they both faced huge pressures so I think it’s water under the bridge at this stage.

I'm looking at the tabloids. They have never stated William is incandescent with rage. Only people I've seen saying that are paid Sussex stans.

Cite your sources.

I did post a selection upthread.

It didn’t happen…just like all the other made up rubbish lifted from that site ( a Sussex fan site) that is being repeated and used as so called proof!

Those Sussex fans, they really hate William (and no, I don't "hate" Diana). I just don't understand why they make up all that horrible stuff about him.
It doesn't make Harry look better!

Pipedreams607 · 25/09/2026 15:50

Serenster · 25/09/2026 12:03

In other words , she was paranoid before .
Whether he realised it or not,he echoed the smear campaign against Diana.

I think that could be rephrased as whether the smear campaign realised it or not, Diana’s immediate family themselves recognised that she had paranoid tendencies…

Maybe that was because she was a healthy, happy nursery helper and nanny before the Royal Family got their hands on her?

Have you read what the American lady who employed her to look after their son, who didn’t know her connections at the time , said about Diana? She couldn’t praise her highly enough and if mental health issues had affected Diana then, she wouldn’t have got a job working with children.

Patrick Jephson, who worked with her for nearly eight years in very challenging circumstances described her as professional, energetic and resilient and said,

“Diana was one of the most sane people I have ever met”

It was friends of Charles and royal aides who painted her as mentally unstable in order to paint Camilla as the safe and sensible one.

The misogyny involved in that systematic deliberate smear campaign is absolutely horrific when you think that marriage to Charles and his betrayal caused most of Diana’s problems!

I can’t believe posters are repeating this nastiness simply because they support the monarchy. It’s deeply unpleasant.

🤷‍♀️ who knows, one thing most people would agree on is that Diana loved her boys ….im sure she would be delighted that people are abusing and making up lies about William in her name!!

quaintireneofrye · 25/09/2026 15:52

It's fair to say that Diana chose to quit being a nursery helper because she wanted to be Princess of Wales. Fair enough.
Her family lied to the RF about her personality and hobbies. She wasn't exactly without issues in her earlier years. She wasn't suited.
