I see your points. But H&M's visibility is a double-edged sword as their fall from grace is easily witnessed.
Take the Nigeria trip. H&M were ghosted by the Head of State. And when the Nigerian delegation went to Invictus, several members of the Nigerian delegation were not granted entry into Canada, embarrassing the Nigerians.
And in Columbia, where the duo was also ghosted by the Head of State, that trip delivered the infamous kiddie table photo. And when people commented on the cost of the OTT security, H&M announced a donation of drums and were roundly mocked.
As H&M's grey rocking period extends politicians, who are notorious for knowing where their bread is buttered, will follow suit. California does not offer any quid quo pro to compensate politicians who host these grifters in getaways to their countries. No money, visas, palace dining, and as H&M age, no media coverage either.
IMHO, there is no need to give oxygen to drama queens. Grey rock, and the world will inevitably follow over time as politicians worldwide see that there is nothing H&M can do for them.
