5th Feb - court date for Prince Harry visa case

I believe this is the first time under Trump's Presidency that Prince Harry's visa records case is due. Lawyers representing the Heritage Foundation and Harry are to meet in Washington DC. Is Harry not sick of court?

From the DM link above:

“We need to know whether he broke the rules to get into the United States. If he did the American people have a right to know and those who allowed that to happen should be held to account.'”

Harry entered the US during the first Trump Presidency. The Trump presidency are all about breaking the rules. That qualifies as ironic I think.

The Heritage Foundation and Project 25 and Trump and his administration are very interconnected. The judge may fight this pressure or may not.

I’d not like to see Harry and his family have to uproot their lives when they are well established in the US.

However, if Harry is forced to leave the country it will be easier for him than for so many other immigrants who have no money and no resources to fall back on. So many families are facing this now. That and a stint in Guantanamo Bay while they await deportation. That won’t be in Harrys future.

The judge is Trump appointee, from 2018, which is interesting.

If the Independent article is behind a paywall btw try using ‘reader’ or archive.ph.

How was Harry able to get a “job” - ie BetterUp? This reportedly pays £1m per annum.

And what on earth has he done for them that is worth £1m per annum? How much time does he actually spend on this 'job'?

Interesting about the judge being a Trump appointee. I didn’t know. Thank you

He delivered Invictus as a major client. They are now ‘partnered’ (see their websites).

USAID monies may or may not have been involved. There is much online via news sources today about the financial audit of USAID grants. I believe Invictus is (was?) possibly a recipient.

I rather suspect that in the list of essential qualifications for the job was a requirement that the candidate is a member of the British royal family. Strangely, only one application ticked this box.

The papers doing the rounds is that the original 10 million of archewell came from recipients of USAID as well as money to African parks. There does appear to be a push from republicans

Yes, there's interest in USAID > Ethic / Fidelity Charitable > Archewell online today.

It'll all come out in the wash, eventually.

TheCrowPeople · 06/02/2025 16:50

And that's on top of the alleged money movement via SVCF.

('The Silicon Valley Community Foundation (SVCF) also channeled USAID funds, eventually donating $10 million to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Archewell Foundation through the usual NGOs.' - tweet allegation from post above.)

PigeonDress · 06/02/2025 17:25

Did that $6m, that the Fidelity Charitable accounts listed as going to Archwell in 2023, ever turn up?

The rumour is (as it's never been disclosed) that even though the money going out was declared in one tax year the instalments took place over two tax years for Archewell

PigeonDress · 06/02/2025 18:04

Thank you, @Vespanest .

I guess the overriding issue is that Harry and Meghan's "philanthropy" via Archewell has been through the use of tax payers' money. And, I assume, they are paying themselves and their staff out of that money too.

The wash is an accurate description, it appears that large sums of money come into SVCP and fidelity as taxpayers income but have not found anything to say that the funds received by H and M come from that pot specifically. But I'll alway be sceptical why anyone would place millions into a charity that then piggy backs onto other charities and charges to do so in the form of expenses. Why not cut out the middleman.

ARichtGoodDram · 06/02/2025 18:48

However, if I am reading the above correctly, as a member of the royal family, Harry doesn't need an A- visa to have the diplomatic classification.

I think that's certainly the way it's been done as Princess Madeleine of Sweden had a diplomatic passport for the years she lived in the US.

veraswaistcoat · 07/02/2025 12:58

What's the current status with this? Judge is possibly asking for more documentation?

Isn't this the same judge who previously refused to disclose any more information? The only thing that's changed is now Trump is President . Difficult to see how he can now reverse his judgment without admitting to undue outside pressure

But that could work both ways in that the first judgement was with outside pressure and now that has been removed he is free to rule

TheCrowPeople · 07/02/2025 15:50

There was something about the judge wanting to know if the position of the Dept of Homeland Security had changed.

But in the US the judiciary are political appointments. It's short of expected that there will be decisions affected by politics.

Now Trump says he won't deport Harry because he feels having the wife he does is sufficient misery.

HoraceCope · 15/02/2025 07:20

Their public appearance came just hours after US President Donald Trump spoke about the couple in an interview, saying "I'll leave him alone" when asked whether he thought Prince Harry should be deported* *from the US.
"He's got enough problems with his wife," the president added. "She's terrible."
