William& Catherine involved in new mental health programme

William and Catherine are working with a local charity, Mind, that will launch a mental health programme that will support those living in north west Norfolk (including those living on the Sandringham estate).

The programme, which is being partly funded by the couple, will provide additional mental health support for rural and farming communities, which suffer from rural isolation and poor mental health. It is hoped that the pilot scheme will be become a blue print that can be rolled out across the UK.

A blue print for a national roll out- lets hope that there is a royal to help fund and promote in every area then.

OccasionalHope · 21/12/2024 08:15

Mind is a national charity.

Mind is a national charity.

Mind is a national charity but the local minds are independent charities with their own trustees and strategic plans and they are responsible for own funding. Here is the local Mind mentioned

Oh, I didn’t know that, I assumed it was just a branch. It stands to reason that other local branches would be able to use the same template though.

Mind is a national charity.

Yes. But they are working with a local Mind charity in Norfolk and Waveney.

More mental health support in rural areas is very much needed. I find it interesting that much of their work is involved with smaller local pilot projects which can then be rolled out nationally with lessons learned. Maybe this is more sustainable in the long run than starting enormous grand projects which need a lot of tweaking.

I agree @MrsLeonFarrell , they seem well advised.

In the integrated report for the Duchy of Cornwall it states that the 4 emerging strategic aims of PW for the estate are

  • Grow income while retaining value
  • become net zero by 2032
  • be exemplar estate around mental health of tenants and staff
  • work with others to tackle homelessness in Cornwall

edited because forgot to add this bit in as I meant to agree with previous poster about test and learn approach as I recall seeing a mention in the report about another pilot on Duchy land around retrofitting environmental improvements to farm properties

Excellent initiative, well thought through and much more likely to be sustainable.
