King Charles claustrophobic?

Randomly came across this snippet when looking for something else:
Britain's Prince Charles is scared of lifts.
The 65-year-old royal has confessed he suffers from a phobia of elevators and always tries to take the stairs whenever possible since he doesn't like being confined in small spaces.
When he met teacher Shehnaz O'Mallie at her block of flats in Islington, north London, yesterday (14.02.13) he asked he whether the lifts in the building worked.
She said: "We always take the stairs", to which he bashfully replied: "So do I. I'm always terrified of lifts".
I'm probably slightly autistic, and have dyspraxia, so decided to investigate further, and found a couple of videos of the king looking a bit nervous in a tunnel, and on a tube train.
Also found this extract from his recent engagement at the Macmillan cancer centre:
The hospital's chief executive David Probert said the King was showing plenty of "energy" going round the hospital. He was using the stairs rather than the lift.

I would be bloody scared of tunnels too, if I were him!

No, I’m simply supporting the OP who was the only one here who had mentioned symptoms of neurodiversity at that point.

Who are you supporting?

Who am I supporting, @AliceOlive?

Oh idk, maybe the thousands of neurodivergent people (including myself) who are fucking fed up of people minimising their symptoms by describing their debilitating conditions using terms like "mild" and "high-functioning"?

Just because you perceive my autism as "mild" because I use all my energy masking, doesn't mean that's how it affects me.

I haven't been argumentative with the OP, all I did was say that it wasn't an ok thing to say. You're the one desperately trying to justify it, and tbh I'm not sure why you've got such a bee in your bonnet about it.

Also, you mean symptoms of "neurodivergence", not "neurodiversity".

Please educate yourself, or at least stop attacking people who are trying to educate you. It's not ok.

I’ve moved on.

I'm not particularly claustrophobic but I'm terrified of lifts to the point of having panic attacks and hyperventilating when I have to use them

It's not just a confined space, it's a confined space moving between floors of a building and you're relying on it not malfunctioning in order to get out safely

There was an episode of Call The Midwife where someone gave birth in a lift which was stuck between floors and the fire brigade had to assist. Genuinely the stuff of nightmares for me

I'm not claustrophobic but avoid lifts when possible.

I & one other person once got stuck in a lift for an hour. That's enough to put you off them for life.

Also I'm scared (as in terrified) of heights and can't cope with those glass lifts that wizz you up big corporate buildings. I've learned to ask for the standard lifts, which usually exist tucked away somewhere.

"no, there is no such thing as being a little autistic" - says the article you've posted.

It also uses a whole load of outdated terms which many autistic people find offensive ("high functioning" etc) so excuse me for not taking it very seriously.

Since when is 'high functioning' offensive.
